The World Congress of Nephrology (WCN’25) witnessed a moment of great emotion and recognition for Renálida. The film “Donar Vida, la historia de Pablo”, an audiovisual production of Renálida, was awarded as one of the 5 best productions worldwide in the Community Film Event of #WCN25.
Pablo’s story: an example of courage and hope
Dr. Paula Marioli received this prestigious award for sharing the inspiring story of Pablo, a high-performance athlete from Mar del Plata who made the courageous decision to donate a kidney to his brother before he started dialysis. Pablo’s story is a testimony of how knowledge and conviction can overcome misinformation and fears, and how organ donation can transform lives.
A message that transcends borders
Pablo, with his example of living a full life after donation, has become a symbol of hope and a motivator for others to make this decision of solidarity. His message “Donating organs is donating life” resonates around the world, demonstrating that it is possible to live a full life after donation.
A call to action to promote renal health
This recognition is a call to action to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation and promote renal health programs. In Argentina, preventive kidney transplantation is fully covered, but only 15% of living donor transplants are performed before dialysis. It is urgent to increase this figure and save more lives.
